We had created an awesome project using two Tessels, an ambient module, and a relay module at MIT Media Lab Design Innovation Workshop 2015 (India). As the Tessels, and all the modules were provided by MIT Media Lab, they had to take them back. This week, we managed to get our hands on two tessels, and an ambient module, wanting to recreate the project.
Here's how it works:
Tessel #1: Ambient module attached. Sends a GET request to a Node server running on my laptop on capturing sound above a certain level.
Laptop: Sends a GET request to Tessel #2 on recieving an incoming GET request.
Tesset #2: Relay module attached. Switches it ON for ten seconds on receiving an incoming GET request.
We had attached a necklace sort of thing to the Relay module, the necklace containing three vibration motors.
I need to run the vibration motors without the relay module. How do I do that?
Things I thought of:
- Directly connecting the necklace to the GPIO pins.
- Using a regular relay from the market, attaching it to the GPIO pins, and running the GPIO pins for ten seconds.
How should I go about doing this? Should I implement any of these methods? I'm a beginner in electronics, so I'll need a detailed walkthough and details about the components I need to purchase.
I can't order the Relay module because I have to demo the project before the Relay module can be shipped to my location.
