I'm Abhijit; a Mechanical Engineer by education and with very little experience in programming. Lately I have started to learn and have worked on basic stuff with the Arduinos.
My focus is to remotely control equipment (involving physical movement) over a click of a button on the internet (be it on a computer or a mobile phone) based on inputs received on sensors and before I develop my skillset in a particular platform, I'd want make sure that I know the advantages and limitations of the same. I have read quite about Tessel 2 and have a set of queries and will really appreciate someone help me with them.
I understand for a complete IoT application to be functional at a click of a button on a computer or a mobile phone, sitting in a remote location and away from the equipment to operate, apart from the equipment we need
- Set of electronic and communication network setup, wiring, etc.
- A website built with a front end language and back end.
Querry 3: The Tessel website, promotes ‘Modules’ typically to run Servos, GPS, RFID, Accelerometers…. Etc. For any application to run on tessel, do the modules haves to be certified by Tessel as such? Can you run any other electronic/ electrical ‘thing’ say a stepper motor using Pololu DRV8825 driver on Tessel 2, just like you do on Arduinos? Also, are libraries supporting other commond drivers/ modules used on basic electronic components equally available for Tessel 2 like for the Arduino? On the website it says number of libraries available on NodeJS and NPM
Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you on this.
